Cherry Blossoms - Tokyo

Greetings from Tokyo. We spent the morning at the Tokyo National Museum, which is situated in the middle of a large park. The cherry trees are spectacular as you can see, by themselves, in long rows and up close. Visiting the museum, one gets the sense of how treasureed they are in Japanese culture. Scenes of beautiful women enjoying the blossoms are quintessentially Japanese.

The blossoms affect people in different ways. Face masks allow those with allergies to enjoy the visual display without the unpleasant side effects. Initially, I thought that these masks were a more recent phenomenon, brought on in part by the Japanese aversion to blowing noses in public...

..but I see that it isn't new.

Yes, cherry blossoms are everywhere, including man-hole covers.

Love from,

Grace
